Superman Batman #64 – Batman makes a shocking discovery with possible Kryptonian origins that places the duo in certain doom – unless Superman makes the ultimate sacrifice
I do understand that there is more to life than comic books, but I just had to share this:
Male Voice: I am looking for either an Incredible Hulk or Captain America toy/action figure.
Me: Hang on, let me walk around the store and take a look real quick.
Male Voice: <burp>
Me: I know that I have a “Zombie” Hulk, but I am still looking for a Captain America
Male Voice: Nah, I am looking for the ‘standard’ I guess is what you would call it.
Me: Sorry, looks like I all out of any Hulk related and I know when Captain America was killed, I got pretty much cleaned out.
Male Voice: What?!?! He is dead?
Me: Yep, shot and killed
Male Voice: In real life or the comic book?
Male Voice: There isn’t really a person called Captain America … is there?
Me: Umm – he was killed in the comic book about a year ago.
Male Voice: okay. Thanks for checking.
Me: Have a good day!
It isn’t the number one question I hear all of the time at the shop, but it is one of the top 5. How much is my comic book worth? There are lots of answers to this question and lately I have been telling them to turn to Ebay. They are a good source for realtime values, with price guides being good to find the ideal price.
I have found that this is a ‘readers’ market and not a ‘collectors’ market. I often find that people won’t pay the prices for the classic Uncanny X-Men #94 or Incredible Hulk 181, but instead are more interested in the variant covers of their favorite current titles.
With the volatility of today’s economy, it’s important that you don’t try to sell a comic for some quick cash, especially if the comic in question is a rare find. I’ve heard from more than one of my peer comic shops about how they scored a collection from a person looking for a quick sale, only to find a lot of pricey issues.
Do you home work, but also understand that the recession will go away.
Marvel is doing some clever cross promotion in their films! Not only can you spot Cap’s shield in the Iron Man movie, but it turns out that the Incredible Hulk movie will set up the super soldier storyline–prepping the origin story for the Captain America movie!
See a pic of the super soldier serum.
