UbiSoft has shipped 8 Million Copies of Watch Dogs

Ubisoft has shipped 8 million copies of Watch Dogs, the company announced in an investor’s call today, significantly boosting its sales this fiscal year.

Watch Dogs broke records following its release, with 4 million copies sold in its first week, making it the best-selling new franchise launch in history. Ubisoft said that its $490 million first quarter fiscal sales increased 374 percent form last year’s $103 million. This exceeded the company’s goal of $422 million for the quarter, with strong growth in the digital sector as well –– 14 percent of Watch Dog’s sales were digital, with a slight lean toward Xbox One.

Despite early issues with PC versions of Watch Dogs, the game sold somewhere between 10-12 percent of its total copies on the platform, Ubisoft said. These, along with console sales, bode well for the publisher’s tax future.

Alien Isolation pre-order bonus DLC reunites original movie cast

Key cast members from Ridley Scott’s 1979 film Alien will be reunited in a number of Alien Isolation pre-order bonus DLC missions.

Sigourney Weaver and a number of her movie co-stars will offer their voice and likeness to two extra levels based on classic scenes from the film, one which will be included in the Nostromo Edition (Crew Expendable) and the other at select retailers in the UK (Last Survivor).

The other stars set to feature in the DLC include Tom Skerritt (Dallas), Veronica Cartwright (Lambert), Harry Dean Stanton (Brett), Yaphet Kotto (Parker) and Ian Holm (Ash).

Customers who pre-order physical copies of the game (digital offerings may differ) will automatically be upgraded to the Nostromo Edition.

In the Crew Expendable mission, players can take on the role of Ripley, Dallas or Parker in the moments following Brett’s death, and are tasked with exploring the Nostromo in a coordinated effort with Lambert and Ash to lure the xenomorph into the ship’s airlock.

Additionally, UK consumers who pre-order at select retailers (again, digital offerings may differ), and US customers who pre-order at GameStop, will receive the Last Survivor mission, in which Ripley attempts to activate the self-destruct sequence on the Nostromo before escaping on the Narcissus.

Alien Isolation creative lead Alistair Hope said: “It was important to us to have the key original cast members reprise their roles in order to perfectly capture the atmosphere of the movie.

“For some of the original cast, this is their first appearance in an Alien video game. Seeing them reprise those roles after 35 years was an unforgettable experience.”

Sega has confirmed an Alien Isolation release date of October 7 on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Evolve Earned Tons Of Awards During E3 2014

It looks like visitors to E3 really enjoyed 2K and Turtle Rock Studios’ upcoming 4v1 shooter, Evolve, as the game managed to rake in a ridiculous amount of awards during the big show held this past June. And among the 50-plus individual honors gathered during the show, it looks like Evolve walked away with the E3 2014 Game Critics Award for “Best of Show,” too. I’m not a betting man, but I’d say it’s pretty safe to assume at this point that this next-gen shooter is going to be kind of big.

That’s appropriate, considering the size of some of the baddies Evolve has to offer. Towering over the audience during this year’s E3 show was a to-scale representation of one of the beasts, looming a good 30-odd feet over everybody’s heads. It helped put the game and its challenges into perspective, as players will join in teams of four humans on a quest to topple a fifth human, but this one will be controlling the ever-evolving monsters.

Headed to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Oct. 21, Evolve‘s monster-heavy gameplay will be just in time for the Halloween holiday, inviting players to either strategize as a team or get downright devious as a hulking baddie.

“We would like to thank the press around the world for their warm and enthusiastic response to Evolve at E3 2014,” said Turtle Rock Studios’ Chris Ashton. “We are encouraged and humbled to see that critics are realizing what we’ve known for a long time: that Evolve is a special experience unlike anything that we’ve ever played before.”

This past June, Evolve won a ridiculously large number of awards from various magazines, websites, etc. From best multiplayer game to best shooter, it looks like the game is turning more than a few heads. At the top of those accolades are a collection of honors from the E3 2014 Game Critics Awards collection, including the Best of Show nod we mentioned earlier, as well as Best Console Game, Best Action Game and Best Shooter.

Evolve continues to solidify its position as one of the most anticipated games of the year,” said 2K President Christoph Hartmann. “The accolades for Evolve highlight the excitement and desire for new IP on next-gen systems, and we are poised to deliver what we believe will be the defining next-gen experience in 2014.”

That is, of course, assuming that the game’s October launch date doesn’t “evolve” before we get there. It’s not uncommon to see these bigger games get a slight bump back to allow for more polish but, judging by how well the game showed at E3, it doesn’t sound like the team has too much left to bolt down. ‘Tom Clancy’s The Division’ Release Date Next Year

“Tom Clancy’s The Division” is set to launch for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC sometime next year, and developer Ubisoft discussed new details about the game with Connected Digital World during the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles earlier this month.

Fred Runquist, “The Division” executive producer, first addressed the title’s E3 demo. “This year, we’re actually in Manhattan. As the game demo starts, you see the camera panning down and ends up down in the New York subway systems. From there on, it’s one amazing thing after another until the end.”

Runquist also explained the origins of The Division, a government agency based on real-world events.

“The Division is a government agency. It’s linked to a real-world situation of a pandemic scenario called Dark Winter. The whole United States closes down within two weeks. That’s how it all started, from those real-world events and those real-world legislations.”

Sniper Elite 3 Steam Codes Stolen, Resold To Innocent Buyers, Revoked

Developer Rebellion has admitted that some bad people have stolen a batch of Sniper Elite 3Steam keys from a third-party vendor and then resold them on the cheap, and Steam has revoked all the stolen keys, to the chagrin of many burned buyers

The PC market is a bit wild, and as a result it is often pretty simple to get some good deals on even brand-new or pre-order games. But sometime there are shenanigans involved. For games that require Steam to run, you can usually still purchase keys outside of Steam from Amazon, Green Man Gaming, Gamersgate or any number of other sites. And apparently one disreputable seller had stolen a batch of Sniper Elite 3 keys from a legitimate vendor and then sold them at a markdown.

When Rebellion caught wind of this, they alerted Valve and had the keys revoked, leaving buyers pretty peeved on the Steam forums because Rebellion is not offering a refund for those who bought one of the stolen keys. They are giving out keys for the pre-order exclusive Target Hitler DLC (the game launched on Friday), but that’s all. It was, after all, stolen property folks were unwittingly purchasing, and none of Rebellion nor Valve nor the retailer that lost the keys saw any money from those purchases.

Here’s the statement from Rebellion on the matter from the forums:

To clarify, one of our PC retail distributors informed us that some of their allotted Steam keys were stolen. We believe these keys were then resold to multiple companies, with no payments going to either Valve or the retail distributor.
Steam were immediately informed and have now revoked that set of keys.
As a developer Rebellion are happy for you to purchase the game anywhere you see fit and support price competition in the PC market – we have in no way targeted any specific vendors (who may have also thought these keys were legitimate), just this one set of keys.
All we can suggest if you have been affected is to please contact your vendor and first ask for a replacement key, and then contact us for the free pre-order DLC if you are successful.
